This 4 day course, sponsored by The University of Arizona, College of Medicine AzAHEC at the Arizona Health Sciences Center, is an intensive, individually tailored conversational and medical Spanish Workshop consisting of medical dialogues, role-plays, many colorful visual aids cross-cultural discussions, "edutainment", daily practice and evening study with a Text work-book and 10 audio cassette tapes or 10 CDs. These strategies strengthen the participants' abilities to meet the program's learning objectives. The course curriculum provides for over 45 hours of total immersion learning. This approach has repeatedly proven to be extremely suitable for those with limited time, and who must use their new language skills immediately with their Spanish-speaking patients, affording a better understanding of cross-cultural communication and more cultural competency. Accreditation ACCME/AMA PRA Accreditation Statement This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the Joint sponsorship of The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center and Rios Associates. The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of **43 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physician should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This program has also been reviewed and is acceptable for 45 prescribed hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians. This program is approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for 45 hours of Category 1 CMEs. This Program has been approved for 45 contact hours of continuing education by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants) accepts category I credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP and AMA Category I CME credit for the PRA from organizations accredited by ACCME.
