CMEs:    Classes include CME credits in the fee.  CME test credits in the self-study material are to be paid at the time of request.  Request CMEs by completing Exams and evaluation form included with the program and mailing it to Rios Associates together with appropriate payment by check or Money Order.  You will receive your CME certificate in the mail after processing.  

 Description: The course is composed of 2 Text Books with exercises (Level I & II) and (Level III), 14 Audio CDs (corresponding to all 15 lessons) and 3 Video CD-ROMs,  CME Tests and Evaluation Forms are included in Level III Book .   Each Test qualifies for 5 Category 1 AMA CMEs after completion and evaluation, and each requires a $35 fee for Physicians, or a $30 fee for Residents, NPs, PAs, RNs, etc for handling, processing and recording.  10% discount when 5 exams sent in all at one time.  Released 4/15/2004 for a period of 5 years. 

The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for continuing Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Health Science Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 75 hours in category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award (5 CMEs per Lesson).  Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that s/he actually spent in the educational activity.

 

  Target Audience:  MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs, all Health Care Professionals

Objectives:

Participants who complete the course will:

a) Be able to interview patients in Spanish, take a detailed medical history, conduct a physical exam, give prescription instructions and follow-up instructions & intervene with medical emergencies.

b) Be exposed to a Spanish vocabulary of 3,500 general and medical words.

c) Develop a good flow of speech in the present, future and various past tenses, the command forms and be able to use a variety of idioms, complex tenses and moods (conditional, present & past progressive, present & past perfect tenses plus subjunctive mood and its tenses.)

d) Obtain a varying degree of Cultural Competency concerning time, personal space, family dynamics and typical foods, as well as health and medical care.

e) Develop skills to continue language acquisition though daily practice and personal experience.
