         Joanna Ríos Ph.D.

Founder and Director of Ríos Associates and developer of this unique system, Dr. Ríos has been teaching General, Medical & Legal Spanish for over 15 years and has authored several published text-books and recorded corresponding cassette tape packages using the "Ríos Method". She is a translator and simultaneous Interpreter for various International businesses, the Court System; as well as, an instructor and consultant at the University of Arizona. Dr. Ríos designed and developed her delightful and creative, yet highly intensive specialized programs and techniques which have proven extremely successful over the years. She holds a B.A in Spanish and romance languages, as well as an M.A. in Latin American studies from the University of Wisconsin (Madison). She is ABD towards Ph.D. coursework in Latin American Studies at U.N.A.M (National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico City), and also holds a Ph.D. in Education and Spanish Studies from Columbia Pacific University.

                         Tamara Anahí Ríos, MS

Tamara, who was raised in both Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico and Tucson, AZ, is bilingual and bicultural and holds a BA as well as an MS in Psychology with a minor in Spanish.  She is also presently working towards a PhD in Psychology, and has been teaching and coordinating programs with Rios Associates since 1995.

                    José Fernández, MA

José is a native Spanish speaker born in Mexico and raised in Cuba. He lived and was educated in several countries giving him a unique international flavor. He has translated, developed and negotiated international business contracts and other legal documents, acting as the liaison for various U. S. and foreign companies. He has also taught Spanish in several colleges and Universities over the past 15 years, specializing in medical, legal and business Spanish.  Lic. Fernandez has been an integral part of Ríos Associates since 1993.

                      Yolanda "Yola" Ruanova

"Tía Yola" is a native Spanish speaker who was born and raised in Mexico.  She has taught and proofread with Rios Associates since 1983, and prior to that, worked in the nursing field in Mexico City for 11 years.  She brings with her a unique insight to Mexican culture and customs.
